Puerto Vallarta Waterfront (Sierra Madre Occidental route)

Part of the global UTMB World Series trail-running circuit that feeds into the UTMB Mont-Blanc Finals in Chamonix, this race sends over 3,000 runners through a dramatic route spanning the Sierra Madre Occidental mountains, the Cuale River, and dense jungle before finishing on the Puerto Vallarta waterfront. Distances range from a 20K "Ereno" coastal route to an 81K ultra-distance "Wixárika" race, with the course drawing inspiration from and naming conventions honoring the region's Indigenous Wixárika heritage. It's considered the premier trail-running event in Mexico and one of the most geographically varied races on the UTMB calendar.
