As part of the 33rd edition of Jalisco's flagship mariachi and charrería festival (running statewide Aug 26–Sep 6), Puerto Vallarta hosts a free live mariachi performance at the Aquiles Serdán Amphitheater, known locally as Los Arcos del Malecón. Mariachi was named an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO, and this satellite concert brings that tradition to the Malecón as one of several municipal extensions of the larger Guadalajara-based festival. The evening is free and open to the public, starting around 7:00 pm.
